The clock is ticking for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to decide
whether to proceed with a listing of lynx as a threatened species.
The public comment period on the proposal closed on Monday (Nov. 16)
after a couple of extensions. More than 1,700 comments were submitted,
said Lori Nordstrum, the service’s lead biologist coordinating the listing
proposal for the lower 48 states.
