INTERIOR DEPT. ASKED TO MOVE FOREWARD ON UMATILLA PROJECT

Representatives of the Umatilla Tribes and Westland Irrigation District in Eastern Oregon met March 2 in Washington, D.C., with U.S. Department of Interior officials and members of the Oregon Congressional delegation seeking support for the third phase of a bucket-for-bucket water exchange that would provide Columbia River water for crops while leaving flows in the Umatilla River for migrating salmon and steelhead.
