8. CORPS BEGINS ACTIONS TO RELOCATE TERNS

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will seed Rice Island and two other
Columbia River estuary islands beginning Jan. 26, as part of a plan to
relocate much of a colony of Caspian Terns to East Sand Island 15 miles
downstream.

The plan is outlined in a final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding
of No Significant Impact (FONSI) released this week.
