The cost of electricity to a residential consumer
in the Northwest could rise by $1.50 to $5.30 per
month if four lower Snake River Dams are breached
in an attempt to save endangered runs of Snake
River salmon and steelhead.
Breaching could also cost farmers an additional 27
cents per bushel to ship grain if barges can’t
travel up the Snake River to Lewiston, and it
could mean a loss of as much as $9.2 million in
irrigated farmland values.
